on the chance to sound stupid...

Having problems installing or using kPlaylist.

on the chance to sound stupid...

:D
well, short story upfront, my os hdd crashed (totally and final) and as usual, i had no backup :( . call it stupid ... whatever. never bothered about backups of os only data. so music, movies etc. all save....
anyway, i got a new hdd and while at it upgraded from ubuntu 10 to 11 - thought it was a sign, that i should do that at this point. anyway, all went smooth, ubuntu 11 server is running and so is kplaylist again. just one problem, while everybody else on the server seems to have no probs at all, i can't play any music thru kplaylist!!! :(
everytime i go to any option to play a file or album etc. it takes a couple seconds and firefox is shutting down. and i mean shutting down, prog. closed end of story - restart browser to get back in the game.
anybody else experienced this problem with ubuntu 11 and firefox sofar???? drives me insane, and nothing seems to help (changing players etc). now on the way to download other browsers to see if the prob might be solved that way....
anyway, any (sensible) input is welcome.

DId you try with another browser? Sounds very weird that the application itself crashes. Is there any log?

i think i'am getting to the prob slowly. seems to be a ubuntu "issue" with external usb hdd's not accepting/ recognizing ubuntu permission settings. never had this before, maybe they changed sth in the os (not the computer geek - so i can't provide a better detailed description of the prob). i try to "f*ck" around with linux settings etc. at the moment to solve the prob. sofar just partial success.
help is welcome, if anybody had this prob as well!
