Alternative Update "algorithm"

I was pondering about how it would be possible to make kplaylist update the database a bit faster.

I have my albums sorted as albums\artist - year - albumtitle, and I only add or remove whole albums, so the database should actually only look for new subfolders in the albums directory and add the contents (and vice versa when removing).

Would it make sense to add such an alternative upgrade option or am I dealing with a very special "use case"?

There is something called 'automatic database sync' in Settings->Filehandling. When browsing new or changed directories it
will automatically add or update. If this option is enabled, you don't need to run the update. Just browse via kP to the
actual directory.

Thanks - didn't know that one existed.
Still it requires one to browse the new directories.

My point is that if you make the assumption that new subdir <=> new files you could save alot of time updating.

The above bi-implication might be a bit too narrow for many people, but it's valid in my case.

There is another option; running a cronjob for updating in the background, please look
