Who hosts you?

Postby jake5253 » Wed Sep 21, 2005 11:17 pm

Ok, theres a few sites that are running kplaylist, apparently your host doesn't b***h about you havinf MP3s on their server and "wasting" bandwidth.

So my question:

Who hosts you?
Where can I sign up?
Can you please rate the quality of your host?

Thanks
Jake

Most of us host our selfs. It is simple to tell the truth. The kplaylist site has a windows web server set up on it. Just go to links and go download it. Then set it up. if you need more help let me know. :D

OK I have a question. XAMPP has many more functions that e-novative WAMP which I am running now...

Would it be benefitial to uninstall that and install XAMPP becuase I was hoping to install some kind of FTP Server Software

Personaly I've always used Easy-PHP when it comes to hosting/development.

I've used it non-stop for the past year and a half with no problems.
Especially useful since it installs Apache, PHP, MySQL, and phpMyAdmin (php/web interface for working with MySQL) all at once.

I host my own server at home.

The hardware is currently a Celeron D, 1.7GHz, 1024MB ram, 100Mbps NIC. Internet connection: ADSL2+, 13Mbps/1Mbps.

The server runs FreeBSD and development versions of kPlaylist as they become available.

Signups: closed.

I currently host my music on my server at home.

Currently on a FreeBSD box connected to the Internet on a Fibre optic 10mbit bidirectional Internet connection. That means I can stream up to 1meg/sec up/down..

If you want a reliable system go with any BSD flavor. All have proved reliable and easy to maintain.

I have been with these people for over a year and what you get for the price is truly amazing. Look for your self.

http://www.1and1.com/?k_id=11140163

I get:
250gb of storage
2.5TB each "Month" of data traffic
more ftp, email addresses, sub-domains (whatever.your-domain.com) than you will ever need.

For all that I pay $9.99 a month (billed three months at a time)
They have a deal going on right now for less I think though.

I host myself on a WAMP type server.

Apache, MySQL, PHP, Tomcat all manually installed and configured. I installed Kplaylist after my web server was properly configured for a few months.

Right now, hosting runs on Server 2003
P4 2.0ghz
512MB Ram
500GB

I'm with hostmonster.com. 300gb space 3000gb monthly bandwidth. 4.95$/month is not bad, and it has all the bells and whistles.
